Missal Chants

The new edition of the Roman Missal will contain a wealth of music. The setting of the Ordinary of the Mass proves a good, foundational setting for any parish.

Music

To assist parishes and communities use the chants of the Order of Mass the Office has prepared a downloadable booklet together with graphics for the chants which may be used in booklets.

The wide range of music in the Missal can be found on the website of ICEL. This now includes accompaniments for the Mass chants.

Roman Missal: Guide for Composers

The Department for Christian Life and Worship has prepared a guide for composers to the Order of Mass. As well as providing texts for composers to set and guidance on the role of music in the Mass it also provides details of the Process for Permission to Publish settings of the liturgical texts. Any setting of liturgical texts published in England and Wales have to be submitted to the Department prior to publication.

Other Texts — The Processional

The Society of St Gregory with the endorsement of the Department for Christian Life and Worship has produced The Processional a compilation of antiphon texts for use on Sundays and major feasts. The purpose of the volume is to provide composers with a resource and to encourage setting of these texts
